CPF Interest 2017

Ding…Ding…Ding, CPF Board had just credited the interest into our CPF account, you may log in and check your latest balance and amount of interest you got from “ Ah Gong “...😊



This year, total $ 28,114 been credited into our account ( for both STE & Mrs STE) as interest income from CPF and we are really happy to see our money continue to grow in CPF as we treat it as AAA Bond till 2025 ( till we reach 55 years old).  As I have highlighted in my previous blog post, we treat this CPF outstanding as Bond in our portfolio and also as “cushion” in case anything happens to our equity portfolio due to market volatility.

Combined, we have $967K (including CPF-IS sum ) in our CPF balance and we are projecting to hit $1 mil mark by 2020.

As mentioned, although CPF’s mission is trying to assist us in retirement/housing and health care planning, but in view of limitation or fund to fulfil these 3 objectives, we will need to make a “choice “ whether we want to give more priority to big “R” retirement or “H” housing  or find a balance that chooses a house type that within our mean, let the balance of $$ compound in our CPF ( especially SA account which can earn higher interest ).


Topping up the SA account also subject to much debates and have pro & cons, it depends on your own situation. 4% interest and Tax rebate maybe tempting for someone to do the transfer or topping up, but some may also think that locking up our money for such a long period may not be wise (especially the younger one ) as the transfer is irreversible.

Time flies, and as we find ourselves in the midst of 2023, it is remarkable to reflect upon the passage of time and experience that has unfolded. I’m sure we all have different experiences in the 1st half of 2023 in terms of portfolio management and performance.
